Meet the NGO

Light of Life Trust a non-governmental organization established in 2002 and registered under Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 is founded by Villy Doctor, with a vision to transform the lives of underprivileged rural communities in India. Roots must be strengthened and nurtured to grow healthy plants, so, we strengthen our roots, the rural people of India and nourish them through our two verticals:1. Project Anando supports probable secondary school dropouts to complete their basic Education & make appropriate career choices leading to financial independence. Through a 3E approach – Educate, Empower and Equip for Employability, children are supported to realize their full potential through varied programmes leading to holistic development. Initiated in the year 2005 with 25 children project Anando has over the last 14 years reached out to 12627 children and 631 teachers directly and 108739 community members indirectly across 560 villages. 2. Project Jagruti supports development of rural communities through the following verticals:a. Livelihood Training Programme – This programme provides training to underprivileged rural women, girls & unemployed youth to help them attain financial independence. Initiated in the year 2010 in Tiware Village, Karjat Tehsil, Raigad District with a batch of 20 students in the computer training centre, till date 6293 students have been trained in 16 different vocations offered under the programme, and 54283 people being impacted by the project indirectly.b. Healthcare – The Medical Mobile Unit provides basic healthcare services and health awareness in remote areas having no access to health facilities.Initiated in the year 2013 the Medical Mobile Unit has reached out to more than 39663 patients & beneficiaries across 52 villages in Karjat tehsil, Raigad District, Maharashtra. c. Environment Conservation – This Programme focusses on supporting poor farmers with an additional source of income through the distribution of fruit bearing plants. Initiated in the year 2015 the programme has distributed 142295 fruit bearing saplings to 3440 farmers across 94 villages in Karjat & Uran Tehsils, Raigad District.Since inception in 2010 Project Jagruti has reached out to more than 103680 beneficiaries directly across the three major programmes.

Meet the Founder

Ms. VILLY DOCTOR, an excellent teacher, an educationist, a psychologist, and a therapist, Ms. Villy Doctor is the founder of Light of Life Trust (LOLT) and Satyavati Spiritual Foundation. She is the co-founder of ‘Ormax’, a renowned market research company. The former senior lecturer, St. Xavier’s College and former visiting faculty, Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai, she held the position of Head of the Department, Psychology, at Sophia College, Mumbai, for a decade.A deep interest in human nature led her to work in the field of consumer behaviour and eventually launch Ormax Consultants along with her husband. She worked with Ormax for ten years, after which she moved on to researching the role of meditation in stress relief and its use as a therapy. With the goal to benefit humanity and to set up Satya Meditation and healing centres across the globe, she set up Satyavati Spiritual Foundation in 2009.Compassionate, gentle, humble, giving and committed, Ms Doctor founded Light of Life Trust in 2002 with a vision to break the generational cycle of poverty – one life at a time. Since then, she has dedicated herself to transforming the lives of underprivileged rural communities, particularly women children thereby empowering them to live with dignity and self-respect.
