Meet the NGO

Cancer is a scary word. It often deeply affects a person physically, emotionally and even financially. Therefore, keeping up with the age-old adage “Prevention is better than cure”, Cancer Aid Society organizes awareness campaigns in thousands of Institutions mobilizing about a million Volunteers every year who assist in generating awareness among twenty million people all over India through campaigns on the harmful effects of Tobacco including Passive Smoking, Alcohol, Drugs, Obesity, Carcinogens and Pollution of Air, Water & Land. They also educate people about the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle.

The NGO has been in a Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council since 2012 and is a registered participant of the World Health Organisation’s Global Coordination Mechanism on Non-Communicable Diseases.

Presently 80% cancer patients reach the doctors in incurable stages where precious human lives, as well as resources, are lost leading to the financial breakdown of families which can be prevented through health education by issuing pamphlets published in 12 Indian Languages along with pictorial illustrations through one-to-one contact, which would generate a high-level awareness among a large section of the population and help in significantly reducing the mortality rate.

The organisation, founded by Dr. Piyush Gupta has worked tirelessly to advocate and spread awareness about good health and well being. Their efforts have been recognised globally and they have been awarded the title of Best NGO in healthcare and Best Cancer Awareness programme.

They organize training in Palliative Care, Pain Management and availability & use of Oral Morphine.
Understanding the seriousness and possible effects of the diseases under their cause, they also assist terminally ill patients and their families through counselling, guidance, moral support, referral services for treatment and palliative care.
